What is link building?

One of the most effective ways to get your website to climb within search engine rankings is good link building. When link building and someone offers you a thousand links in a week back to your site. Run like the wind. Too many links at once will get your site sandboxed at some time by Google. It is looked at as “black hat seo” and cheating, and not “natural, organic seo.” So be patient and add your links weekly, 50-100 is safe.

How long does Google take to count your links?

Usually your links will not register or count for a few months and Google will give your site credit for these links, or if too many at one date in time were added, your site could be penalized, move down in rank or even sandboxed.

What is sandboxed?

Google takes a site right out of the search engine. It cannot be find for any search keywords. This may last 6 months to a year. Or you may contact Google via your webmaster’s account and ask for it sooner. Perhaps explain why this had happened and promise it will not happen again.

What is relevant content?

Any site related to your site in content is relative and best for linking with. It is a good idea to try link exchanges with these sites by simply contacting the admin or webmaster and asking.

Social networks.

Creating lots of interesting and informative videos via Youtube is great to drive traffic to your site. The same goes for articles. Write and add several articles per week on several articles sites. Of course twitter and facebook help as well and other similar social network sites.

Be patient.

It does take some time to climb search engines and will not happen over night. The best climb is slow and steady, a natural and organic climb in search engine rankings.

Changes in Word One nifty new feature in Word is called "Navigation pane," which replaces the old document map. It incorporates minor changes in design that make big changes in productivity and ease of use. It allows you to quickly rearrange the document. Take for example a document with several headings/sections. The Navigation pane provides a list of all the headings. The headings are live, so you can drag them up or down, thus rearranging the document. It also incorporates most of the functions that used to be available in the "Find" dialog box but now they are all visible so you don't have to go digging through several menus to find the option that you need.

Most of the changes in Excel deal with very large datasets. There is a new PowerPivot add-in which works great if you are dealing with a very large dataset that does not fit in one Excel spreadsheet. Yes, some things are different, and it will take some getting used to; but, once you realize the improvement in efficiency you'll agree that the changes are mostly for the positive.

The only thing that I truly wish had changed but didn't is that this version does not include Outlook. Very worthwhile, but a word of caution on install ,. I debated whether to do it or not and what version to get. I was pleased to see the price actually drop upon shipping. While MS did provide a work around this much better. One word of caution when you are installing. My bad! The install then proceeded to remove Outlook, Publisher and Access. Since the program I was installing did not include these products I think it's pretty bogus for the install process to remove them. I don't know if the "Customize" button would have allowed them to stay.

I use Word for a lot of basic word processing - writing reports & articles with foot-notes, head-notes, & tables of contents, not to mention personal stuff. I rarely use mail-merge I use Excel for simple spreadsheets - including calculations and such. I often sort etc I don't usually use charts & graphs. I use Power Point once in awhile but I don't do anything fancy with it. People who didn't run to get the new one are perfectly happy with the older versions so sales started going down. You can certainly keep using the older versions for awhile longer.
